The Challenge of Tech…
How will Engage help parents to tame technology?
The world of technology is an ever-changing one that terrifies many parents. Keeping up with the latest hot app, the most popular music, and wondering what their kids are really doing on their smartphones is a scary proposition. According to Barna research, 65% of parents rate managing technology as the number one most difficult they face as parents. (I think that statistic is probably on the low side.) In addition, Common Sense Media explains that 95% of teens have a smartphone, and at least 50% of those teens admit to being on their phones “almost constantly”. All these factors come together to create a very challenging situation for parents.
My hope is that Engage can be a constant source of information, perspective, and hope in this area. We will provide bite-sized updates on the world of technology, apps to keep an eye on, and helpful strategies for you as a parent to lead your family well in this area. We’ll provide these helps via our website as well as partnerships with churches to offer seminars for churches and parents.
On February 9, 2020, we’ll be kicking off our technology seminars by bringing in Dr. Jim Burns (www.homeword.com) to St. Louis to offer his seminar called “Creating a Media Safe Home”. We are thrilled to be able to offer this seminar to St. Louis families. Click here to learn more and register.
